Today I left LA Downtown first to the North again to Hollywood, where I wanted to do the Kodak Theatre tour that I missed two days before. Unfortunately, due to an event there were no tours today. So I skipped this and drove to the Mulholland Drive that runs through the hills above Hollywood and provides a couple of scenic views on LA, Universal City, and San Fernando Valley.

After that, I drove directly to Newport Beach, one of the most interesting coastal towns in Orange County, the region between LA and San Diego. Things to see here were Balboa Island including the ferry, two piers and wonderful beaches at the Pacific coast, and a nice and elegant shopping mall called Fashion Island. A few miles south along the Highway 1 I stepped by at Laguna Beach, another nice beach town. No evening activities today, from Laguna Beach I drove to the hotel in San Diego del Mar where I spent the rest of the day to prepare the next days of my trip.
